TOM BISTLINE
Vietnam 1968
In 1968 Tom Bistline joined the army and became a battalion leader. Part of his duties required him to build barracks out of sand bags. While serving in Vietnam, Tom not only learned how to make sand bags, but he learned how to utilize them in many applications in developing erosion control devices.

OUR HISTORY
As a member of the San Onofre surf club, erosion control and water management have always been important to Tom Bistline. In 1982, Tom and his wife Bonnie started a construction company to provide site services to home builders. An early pioneer of erosion control, Tom Bistline earned a respectful name in the industry by developing effective solutions, even without many of the current erosion control products available today. Some of the years have produced heavy rains and many challenges in keeping the large construction sites from erosion damage. Tom and his crew quickly learned how to provide clients custom made devices and developed their own patented erosion control solutions.
For over 37 years, Tom built his reliable team of specialists that grew along with him. Working hard together through the El Nino winters and the unpredictable Southern California weather, the Bistline crews have developed skills you can only learn from actually working in the heavy rains. They continue to bring this experience with them to every job.
Currently Tom and Bonnie are enjoying their retirement, Tom is still surfing at San-O, and the Bistline Engineering team continues to provide experienced erosion control services throughout Southern California.

Provides consultation services for BISTLINE Engineering on all major projects.

James McGowan
Supervisor, QSP
30 year Bistline employee. Skilled equipment operator, specializing in rough and finish grading. Monitors all field employees and assigns daily work assignments.
Jose Mendoza
Foreman - Certified CISEC, QSP
26 years experience in construction site Erosion Control – Job site foreman working directly with supervisors to insure full SWPPP’s evaluation, compliance and monitoring.
Miguel Zepeda
Foreman
25 year Bistline employee. Skilled equipment operator, team leader and expert with cement patching. Manages Bistline equipment yards. Performs routine equipment maintenance, manages specialized work teams.
